Creativity, Community, and Care: Memphis Mental Health Resources While We Wait for Moody Brews
Let’s be honest: life is a lot right now. Between juggling work, family, the state of the world, and whatever existential crisis hits at 2 a.m., we all need a little more support, creativity, and community. That’s exactly what Moody Brews is all about.
We’re building a space where mental wellness, art, and good coffee live together in perfect harmony (or at least in a cozy building with strong espresso). But until we officially open our doors in Memphis in 2029, we wanted to spotlight some incredible mental health resources already doing the work here in the 901.
Whether you need someone to talk to, a support group to lean on, or just want to feel a little less alone—these are some gems in our city you should know about.

💙 Alliance Healthcare Services
A tried-and-true Memphis resource for mental health care, Alliance offers therapy, crisis response, and community-based services. They’ve been around for decades and provide sliding scale options for folks who need them.

💬 NAMI Memphis Support Groups
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) has been holding it down for people and families navigating mental health challenges. Their free support groups are full of people who just get it, and they’re a great way to find community in the chaos.

🧠 Church Health Behavioral Health Services
They blend physical and mental care in a way that actually makes sense (wild concept, right?). If you’re looking for accessible counseling and support, Church Health has your back—especially for those without insurance.

🤝 Hope Church Recovery & Support
If you’re working through grief, addiction, anxiety, or just trying to figure life out (hi, same), Hope Church offers groups that meet regularly to walk through it all together. Bonus: some of the best snacks I’ve ever had at a support group.

📋 Shelby County Behavioral Health Services
For those navigating the justice system and mental health at the same time, this department works hard to bridge the gap. Their programs focus on recovery, restoration, and dignity—yes, please.

🏥 Christ Community Health Services
Affordable, holistic, and deeply rooted in serving underserved communities. They offer counseling, medical care, and spiritual care too (if that’s your thing).

🎨 Bonus: Creative Healing Is a Thing
We believe creativity is medicine—and science backs us up. Painting, writing, dancing, screaming into a throw pillow with interpretive jazz hands—whatever helps.
Memphis has tons of public art, local art programs, and creative spaces that feed the soul. Check out Crosstown Arts, The CLTV, or even just bring a sketchbook to Overton Park. There’s no “wrong way” to make something meaningful.
Until Moody Brews opens, we hope this little list makes it easier to find your people, take care of your brain, and create something that feels like home.
And remember: you’re not broken, you’re becoming. And becoming takes time, coffee, and probably a support group or two.
